Police dive squad recover body near Glenorchy

The police dive squad has recovered the body of a man near Glenorchy after an intensive, unsuccessful search on Friday by boats and helicopters.

Emergency services were alerted about 3pm on Friday that someone had entered the water to assist another person, and had then failed to exit the water themselves.

It is reported that the dead man is a father who had entered the water to assist a member of his family

A number of vessels conducted searches on Friday on the water while two helicopters conducted aerial sweeps.

The man has not yet been named.
