A person has been taken to Dunedin Hospital with moderate injuries after a truck crash in the Octagon in Dunedin.

Emergency services were called to the scene at 7.30am on Saturday where a Pioneer Energy truck crashed into the fencing around a pedestrian path.

The truck was carrying wood chips that have scattered onto the road.

The area is closed off to motorists.
