One dead after e-scooter crash in Christchurch

A person has died after their e-scooter collided with a pole in Christchurch.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of State Highway 76 Brougham Street and Waltham Road at about 11pm on Friday.
The person fell off a scooter when it collided with a pole and died at the scene, police said.
The Serious Crash Unit was notified and the road was closed for a time, but has since reopened.
It is unclear if the death will be included in the official national road toll for 2024.
