Man dies after speed-flying near Wanaka

Oct 15, 2018

A paraglider has died after crashing on a mountain peak near Wanaka this morning.

The Otago Rescue Helicopter Trust said the man was picked up from the top slopes of Isthmus Peak and flown to Dunedin Hospital in critical condition.

Police said the man was speed-flying - which combines paragliding and parachuting to create a fast ride close to the slope.
