Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced a small team to support the testing strategy and extra defence force staff at isolation and quarantine facilities.

Ardern made the announcements at the 1pm briefing update today. However, she confirmed Health Minister Chris Hipkins' comments earlier today that there would be no move to level 4.

"No intention to move to level 4 and no need to.

"Of course we will continue to see cases but no, no intention."

Ardern says things as they are today are encouraging and the perimeter of the virus is not expanding exponentially.

She says the resurgence plan has seen 136,000 tests completed in the past week.
