Sep 06, 2020

There have been five new cases of Covid-19 reported in New Zealand today - four in the community and one in managed isolation.

In a statement, the Health Ministry said the four community cases were all linked to the Auckland cluster.

The Ministry also confirmed that a Christchurch person who was under further investigation has now been confirmed as not a case of Covid-19.

All of today's community cases are linked to the Mt Roskill Evangelical Church group.

The imported case is a man in his 20s who arrived from India on 23 August and who has been staying in an Auckland isolation facility. He is a close contact of an earlier confirmed case and is now in quarantine.

The Ministry said its contact tracing team has identified 3217 close contacts of cases since 11 August, of which 3187 have been contacted and are self-isolating.

There are currently four people with Covid-19 in hospital - two in North Shore Hospital's general ward, one in a general ward at Middlemore Hospital and one in intensive care at Waikato Hospital.

The total number of active cases is now 116, with one previously reported cases now considered to have recovered. The active cases include 39 imported cases and 77 community cases.
