QLDC plans Queenstown rabbit shoot in public gardens

Media reports claim the Queenstown Lakes District Council has organised a four hour rabbit shooting operation in the public Queenstown Gardens, with no notification to journalists apart from the ODT/Mountain Scene.

Newspaper reports this morning claim the shooting involves a professional hunter who will shoot rabbits this evening.

The gardens are a popular daytime and evening destination for locals as well as being used as a shortcut between the CBD area and the large car parking area around the Park Street.

The newspaper reports claims that poisoning of rabbits at the gardens was not considered by the council.
