Police name Frankton couple killed in Malaghans Road crash
Police can now confirm the names of the two people who died in a crash on Malaghans Road on Thursday, June 28.
They were Simran Shiuagani Mala, 25, and Jamie William Pitman, 35, both from Frankton, Queenstown.
Three ambulances and one helicopter were sent to the scene just before 10pm on Thursday.
Medical crews assessed and treated one patient in a moderate condition, and four patients in a minor condition; all were transported to Lakes District hospital by road.
The two victims were found dead at the accident scene.
The five injured people we all travelling in one van.
The Serious Crash Unit attended, and investigations into the cause of the crash are ongoing.
