Kawarau Gorge blocked by single vehicle accident

Police are reporting that a single vehicle accident has blocked the Kawarau Gorge in both directions.

No injuries are reported. 

Drivers were being advised to take an alternate route via the Crown Range while emergency services recover the vehicle and remove debris and fuel from the road.

It's expected the road will re-open shortly.

It's understood the accident was near the Roaring Meg power station.
