Driver hospitalised in moderate condition after Kawarau Gorge crash

A driver has been taken to to the Lakes District Hospital in a moderate condition after a single vehicle accident near the Kawarau Gorge earlier this afternoon.

The road was blocked for about an hour but has now re-opened (2.50 pm June 23).

Hato Hone St John was notified of the motor vehicle incident near the Victoria Bridge at 1:50 pm and responded with one ambulance to the scene.

The crew assessed and treated one patient who was transported to Lakes District hospital in a moderate condition. 

Police, fire and ambulance services all attended the accident scene with a fire crew clearing the road of debris and fuel.
