Driver airlifted to Dunedin Hospital after Shotover Bridge crash
The male driver of a vehicle that crashed on the Shotover Bridge underpass has been airlifted to Dunedin Hospital.
The accident happened at 4.00 pm just off Shotover Delta Road with emergency services not at this stage clear on how the accident happened. The driver is reported to be in a serious condition.
Police released the following details:
"Just before 4pm emergency services were notified that a vehicle had rolled and gone off the underpass, between the roundabout and the bridge, Shotover Delta Road. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was a male who was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital in a serious condition."
Social media posts indicate the traffic was gridlocked for some time after the accident.
