My name is Poppie Johnson and it’s a pleasure to invite you to explore Crux Arts & Culture. The opportunity to curate content that highlights local talent and perspectives on the creative aspects of life is a privilege and I’m delighted to be able to open the gateway to these snippets of brilliance.

There’s a creative elf in all of us, sometimes a really tiny one, banging with seemingly ineffectual fists to be let out, to be given air to breath. For me, words have always been my special outlet, from when I could first read and realised the magical power that these strange shapes could weave. For others it is the power of drawing, photography, listening to or creating music, film, sculpture, pottery - the list is endless. Ultimately, whatever form it may take, that creative drive is something special, it can be so inspiring, so powerful and so uplifting. Highlighting these creative aspects in our community is important, it places value upon them and reminds us to appreciate beauty in all things. 

Why me? Why am I the lucky one that gets to cover this content. Well, I’m local, I’m learning to say ‘I’m a writer’ without immediately having an onslaught of imposter syndrome, and I love arts and culture.
