Three hurt as crash closes SH6 near Arrow Junction

A stretch of the main highway linking Cromwell and Queenstown has re-opened after a crash that left three people injured.

Emergency services remained at the scene of the two-vehicle crash on State Highway Six in between Lake Hayes and Arrow Junction for much of Tuesday.

The crash near Bendemeer Lane was reported to police at approximately 7.20am.

Three ambulances and a helicopter attended the incident.

Two people were taken to the Lakes District Hospital in Queenstown - one with serious injuries and the other, moderate.

At 3.40pm the New Zealand Transport Agency re-opened the road after diverting traffic via Arrowtown-Lake Hayes Road and McDonnell Road for close to eight hours.

The highway connects Queenstown with Cromwell and is a busy route for commuters and tourists.
