Teen charged with assault on Cromwell road workers

A teenager has been arrested and appeared in court in Alexandra today in connection to yesterday’s assault on road workers on Barry Avenue in Cromwell.

A police media spokesperson says the 19-year-old has been charged with assault with intent to injure and was remanded on bail to appear in court on February 10.

Police inquiries are ongoing.

Police were called to the scene at 11.45am.

On arrival, they spoke to the road workers who had been assaulted, but the assailants had already driven away from the scene.

A hunt for the offenders then took place.
