Tandem paragliders trapped in trees above Fernhill

A rescue operation is underway to recover two people involved in a paraglider crash above the Queenstown suburb of Fernhill.

The operation is being led by the local Alpine Cliff Rescue Team.

Police told Crux a short time ago that a helicopter has been called in to assist in the operation.

It is understood the two people involved are a commercial paraglider pilot and a tourist.

The accident happened in dense pine trees above Scott Place, in Fernhill (Main image above - Google street view).

Two fire appliances are also involved the the rescue.
