Sunshine Bay given all clear after sewage spill
The Queenstown Lakes District Council says that water samples taken from Lake Wakatipu following a sewage spill in Sunshine Bay have come back negative in connection with potential contamination.
The spill was in Arawata Terrace on Monday January 1st.
Water samples were taken over the following three days and all have come back negative.
The QLDC had put up warning signs on the lakefront at Sunshine Bay as a precaution following the spill.
Locals at Sunshine Bay today seemed to be giving the water a wide berth and many had noticed the warning signs over previous days.
The Otago Regional Council told Crux today that they had been notified of the incident by the QLDC.
The lakefront warning signs have now been removed.
