Serious crash closes Gibbston Highway

One person is being taken by helicopter to hospital after a serious crash on the Gibbston Highway near Queenstown this morning.

In a statement police say they are responding to the incident.

A vehicle was located crashed on the stretch of State Highway Six at around 11.30am.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

The road is blocked and diversions are in place, and motorists are asked to take an alternate route.

The highway links Queenstown and Cromwell.
