Remarkables hosts madcap downhill ski slope sprint
Two-hundred-and-fifty skiers and snowboarders had one aim on Saturday, to get from the top to the bottom of The Remarkables ski field as quickly as possible.
The fastest skier, Willis Feasey, came in at a speedy one minute, 34 seconds while the fastest snowboarder, José Luis Vázquez Tenorio, at two minutes, 13 seconds.
The crazy mass-participant snow race was sponsored by Red Bull, which runs similar events around the world.
But it has been two years since they've been able to bring it to a Kiwi snow slope.
Participants donned wacky costumes and the race was a sell-out.
Some southern snow sports stars supported by Red Bull took part, including Nico Porteous, Alice Robinson and Finn Bilous – with snowboarder Cool Wakushima, who is currently injured, supporting from the sidelines.
In the ski and snowboard categories, alongside claiming the prestigious Red Bull Homerun champion title, the fastest boarder won a Burton Snowboard and the fastest skier, Atomic skis.
There were also prizes for best dressed.
