Queenstown gets a new golf club and course
From the Gibbston Valley Golf Club.
The Gibbston Valley Golf Club will launch amidst the buzz of the New Zealand Open this week.
Queenstown’s newest golf club, located at 135 Toms Creek Road, will officially open its doors on Monday, March 2. Designed by Kiwi golfing legend Greg Turner, the immaculate nine-hole, par 32 golf course is enhanced by the development of a new Clubhouse, featuring a restaurant, gymnasium, heated pool, jacuzzi and pro shop.
Gibbston Valley executive managing director Cristina Griffith says the golf course and Clubhouse is an exciting new destination for the Gibbston Valley.
“The Clubhouse is stunning and we’re delighted to finally open this up to the public,” she says. “We’ve focused on creating a vibrant hospitality experience, best enjoyed after a round of the great game. Although the Clubhouse restaurant, pro shop, gym, pool and jacuzzi is primarily available to members, we do offer day passes for guests.”

The Clubhouse was designed by Condon Scott Architects and constructed by Lakeside Design & Build, with interiors by Space Studios. The elegant, considered design reflects the approachable refinement of the adjacent Golf NZ-affiliated nine-hole golf course, which was designed to appease both beginners and expert golfers.
Pro golfer-turned-architect Greg Turner says he’s delighted with the course and how taking shape so far: “I think this shorter form golf has a real future – where you have all of the quality and fun of the long form of the game but in a format that doesn’t take up so much time. When you add to that the stunning surroundings and facilities, I’m sure Gibbston Valley Golf Club will be a great success.”
As part of the Clubhouse opening, Gibbston Valley has partnered with Arrowtown fashion designer Natalie Newlands to create premium polo shirts, which are available in The Pro Shop, alongside essentials from brands such as Foot Joy and Glen Muir. The Clubhouse restaurant is open every day from 10am-6pm for breakfast, lunch and afternoon appetisers, all complemented by favourites from the Gibbston Valley Collection range of wines.
The opening of the Gibbston Valley Golf Club is a significant occasion for Griffith, who is a golfer herself and one of only six women playing in the New Zealand Open Pro-Am Championship at Millbrook on from Thursday 26 February to Sunday 1 March.
“The idea of a golf course has been floating around our family conversations for more than a decade. My dad, Phil, along with Greg Turner and many others, spent years imagining what it could be and quietly backing that vision with a huge amount of care and commitment,” she says. “To now be part of bringing it to life feels incredibly special. It is a true destination golf club, with beautiful, world-class greens and views, as well as exceptional wine and food. We can’t wait for people to experience it.”
Membership is limited to owners in The Reserve, however Gibbston Valley Golf Club plans to release a small number of non-resident memberships going into the 2026-2027 season. Anyone is welcome to visit the Clubhouse restaurant and to play the golf course. Day passes are available for purchase to enjoy the gym, pool and jacuzzi.
