QLDC investigates Kelvin Heights sewage spill
The Queenstown Lakes District Council is investigating a sewage spill in Kelvin Height's Poplar Drive.
A reader emailed information to Crux and the following statment was received from the QLDC yesterday, Wednesday January 30.
"A wastewater overflow occurred around 9.30am on Monday (28 July) from a manhole on Poplar Drive, Kelvin Heights.
"Initial indications are that this was caused by a build-up of fat and rags in the pipe.
"Council contractors attended, stopped the overflow and put up warning signs as a precaution in line with normal practice pending the results of lake water testing.
"More details about the exact cause of the overflow and any further remedial work required will be available once the investigation has been completed."
