Police dive squad called into search for Wānaka swimmer

The search for a swimmer missing in Lake Wānaka is continuing today, with the police dive squad on its way.

Senior sergeant Chris Brooks says police were notified at around 6.10pm on Thursday after the swimmer failed to resurface.

An initial search of the immediate area by Coastguard and members of the public failed to find the swimmer.

The Police National Dive Squad is expected to deploy later today.
