Niki Gladding to stand again for the QLDC

Niki Gladding has decided to stand again as a councillor for the Queenstown Lakes District Council.

The official nomination page for this years local elections was updated a short time ago to show her standing for the Wānaka- Upper Clutha ward.

She had previously indicated that she would stand instead for the Dunstan ward of the Otago Regional Council.

Only four candidates will be elected for the Wānaka- Upper Clutha Ward.

Councillor Gladding is expected to issue a short statement later this evening.

Her participation in the 2025 QLDC elections is expected to give some impetus to other candidates who have been waiting until the last minute to decide whether to stand or not.

Councillor Gladding has identified multiple problems with QLDC transparency and questionable decision making processes during her terms as a QLDC councillor.

She was stripped of her committee roles earlier this year as a consequence of releasing details of the QLDC sewage crisis.
