QLDC sewage consultants: "It's not looking good."

On Substack later today (around 5.00 pm) in our Friday Edition for subscribers:

  • We reveal the latest global consultancy hired under the radar by QLDC to find a miraculous fix to the failed Shotover sewage plant. A Crux reader relayed to us a comment from one of the consulting team who was in a taxi: "It's not looking good." The latest estimate for a new disposal field: 3 - 5 years. A whole new site is being considered. The cost - your imagination is the only limit at the moment. QLDC: "The problem does not exist."
  • ORC elected members get very nervous about their council failing to be transparent and perform their job as sewage and water quality regulator - we have the emails.
  • We compare local MP Joseph Mooney and QLDC mayor Glyn Lewers to see who would win a contest to be the most invisible and the least effective.
  • We visit the Queenstown $128 million "road to nowhere" site and discover an unprecedented level of electric tension prior to the January 30th champagne opening party. Will anyone turn up and will the council's prayers for a smooth glitch-free opening shindig be answered? We've never seen consultants and contractors so frightened and productive - it would be funny if not so tragic. Somebody has said "don't screw this up" in a very loud voice.
