Mower fire sends black smoke billowing into sky above Arrowtown

Crews and three fire trucks have been sent to douse a lawnmower that caught fire in Arrowtown this morning.

A spokesperson for Fire and Emergency New Zealand says the call for help came at approximately 9.10am.

Firefighters are now working to extinguish the blaze, which they say is not threatening any vegetation.

Earlier, heavy black smoke could be seen billowing into the sky above the township.
