Kawarau Gorge reopens after truck crash

*** update -12.45 pm - the road has now reopened. 


Emergency services are responding to a jack-knifed truck that is blocking SH6 through the Kawarau Gorge between Queenstown and Cromwell.

The incident is near the Roaring Meg power station and the driver is safely out of the truck that is partly overhanging the side of the road.

Police have told Crux that there are no reported injures.

The accident happened at 7.55 am today - Christmas Day.

Heavy haulage equipment is needed to remove the truck.

It is expected that the road may be closed for some hours.
