Jack's Point offers free golf until June 7

May 13, 2020

From Jacks Point.

"As New Zealand exits lockdown, golfers can celebrate the opportunity to play one of the country’s leading golf courses free of charge.

Jack’s Point near Queenstown, recently ranked as New Zealand’s number two golf course by New Zealand Golf Magazine, is offering a free round to any golfer wishing to play.

Jack’s Point Golf General Manager, John Griffin says the COVID-19 crisis and lockdown has been particularly hard on the communities of Queenstown and the surrounding region.

“We want to give local golfers a chance to get out on the course, as well as bring domestic visitors back to the region.

“Jack’s Point has been a magnet for international visitors since it opened a decade ago and this is an opportunity for New Zealanders to take in some of the most spectacular golf and landscapes,” he says.

Recent research by Opinion Compare named Queenstown as the destination most New Zealanders (47 per cent) would like to visit once travel restrictions due to Covid-19 were lifted.

Jack’s Point was designed and created by John Darby, whose work in golf course design also includes New Zealand’s number one ranked Tara Iti course, as well as Millbrook, Clearwater and The Hills.

The 18 hole par 72 championship course weaves through native tussock grasslands to the edge of Lake Wakatipu beneath the The Remarkables mountain range, surrounded by 25 kilometres of walking and cycling trails.

From 18 May until the end of the season, 7 June 2020 any golfer can book a free round at Jack’s Point. Golf bookings details are available on the Jack’s Point website.

Optional cart hire will be an additional $20 per golfer. Golfers wishing to book a second round can do so at a special locals rate of $95 (cart included). A round of golf at Jack’s Point would normally cost up to $250 in high season."
