Introducing Crux Dunedin Editor Andrew Ashton
Well, the term “Dunner Stunnner” certainly makes more sense now that I have moved from sunny Gisborne to surprisingly-sunny Dunedin.
It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as Crux Dunedin Editor and Senior Writer. I'm now well established in my home office on a nice hillside suburb of Dunedin with a gorgeous view over the sea and I find myself already in love with Dunedin and its cool vibe.
Crux Dunedin’s website is now live and I look forward to populating it with the interesting, important, colourful and diverse stories of people who, like me, call Dunedin home.
The content of the Dunedin Crux site will be tailored, in large part, by you, the readers. No agenda-pushing here, unless its on your agenda.
Crux Dunedin will promote your issues and concerns, your hopes and dreams, as a collection of Dunedin’s own stories. If it matters to Dunedin and its people, it matters to Crux.
I have around 25 years experience in the media industry, first starting in the UK after finishing a Masters Degree in Intelligence and International Relations.
As often happens, life took me in a different direction and I entered a career in journalism. I have no regrets!
I embarked on a flight to New Zealand to continue in my news career in 2009.
Starting at the Hokitika Guardian, I then moved on to Oamaru with the ODT for a while, before heading to the Gisborne Herald for four years as deputy chief reporter. I then had a brief stint at Hawke’s Bay Today before returning to Gisborne as chief reporter for another five years, before the big move South.
Throughout my time in media, objective reporting has always been the goal and that will continue here in Dunedin.
Feel free to to say hi or offer a news story suggestions and tips through my editor e-mail address and let me tell your story.
