Hayden Hurst changes plea to guilty in Royalburn manslaughter case
The man charged with killing Royalburn Station head butcher Outrega (Tré) Anderson has changed his plea to guilty.
Court records show that Hayden Hurst entered a guilty plea to one charge of manslaughter in the High Court in Invercargill on Tuesday.
He was then remanded in custody.
In April, Mr Hurst had entered a not guilty plea during his first appearance in the court.
Mr Hurst's sentencing is scheduled for December 17 in Invercargill.
It will come one year and one day after Mr Anderson died in a head-on crash near the Crown Range intersection with State Highway 6.
Mr Anderson had been travelling to work.
Court records show Mr Hurst had 131 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood in his system, above the legal limit of 50 milligrams.
Mr Hurst was also seriously injured in the crash.
He appeared in-person in court this week, after appearing via video link in April.
Members of Mr Anderson's family as well as former colleagues were also in court this week.
