Five injured in Malaghans Road crash - detours in place

Details are emerging of a serious accident on Malaghans Road near Queenstown last night in which at least five people were injured.

The police serious crash unit is at the scene this morning.

Malaghans Road is closed between Hunter Road and Dalefield Road with a detour in place via Speargrass Flat Road.

Three ambulances and one helicopter were sent to the scene just before 10pm last night.

Medical crews assessed and treated one patient in a moderate condition, and four patients in a minor condition; all were transported to Lakes District hospital by road. 

Road blocks in place at the intersection of Malaghans Road and Dalefield Road - as well as with Hunter Road (main image above).

Police were still on scene this morning with road crews having put up road blocks at both Dalefield and Hunter Roads.

Crux saw police cars entering the accident location today but no one at the scene was able to give further details of the accident cause or circumstances.

The involvement of the serious crash unit may suggest that further details of injuries may follow.
