Cromwell street party to finish with a bang
Cromwell is getting set to celebrate spring with its annual street party in the town's heritage precinct.
And the night will finish with a bang with a public fireworks display planned.
The fireworks will be launched to explode over the waters of the Kawarau Arm of Lake Dunstan.
Organisers are asking people to bring picnic blankets and chairs to settle in for an evening of kai and company.
There will be food vendors set up around McNulty House, and performances, including by community groups.
Local face painter Ms Monarch will be attending, plus there'll be a bouncy castle, interactive hula hooping and juggling sessions, a community art project, and a magic show.
The event is being run by the Cromwell & Districts Promotion Group.
Acting group chair Caitlin Dykes says the event is "special and family-friendly" and one organisers are happy to bring to the town again.
But party-goers should expect a few tweaks this year.
“We have a fresh event layout this year, which we feel will enhance the overall visitor experience, along with making the most of the quaint heritage precinct spaces," events coordinator Anthea Lawrence says.
"The surroundings of McNulty House will be transformed into a foodie’s dream, to allow attendees to dine from a large variety of food trucks and trailers, whilst enjoying live entertainment and soaking up the vibe."
Festivities kick off a 5pm on Sunday, October 27.
The fireworks are planned for approximately 8.45pm, with the exact timing dependent on dark skies.
With the party planned for just a few days out from Halloween, the local Scouts will be resurrecting their fundraising 'Haunted Hall' in the Cromwell Masonic Lodge - for those who dare.
