Queenstown 'Green Drinks' to head outdoors
A monthly gathering of green-thinking locals is set to kick off for 2024 with networking in the great outdoors.
Sustainable Queenstown is taking its first 'Green Drinks' for the year out of the pub and into the wilderness of Bob's Cove.
Organisers say the unique event will combine a few of the group's favourite things - getting outside and going for a walk, learning about biodiversity and conservation, catching up with like-minded folks and having a beverage to top it all off.
They're partnering with Southern Sanctuary, and planned is an hour-long walk on the Bob's Cove Track to hear about the conservation efforts the group is undertaking.
"We’ll learn about their trapping efforts, with some hands-on experience, their goal of promoting biodiversity and what we can all do to help out," Sustainable Queenstown event manager Scott Kennedy says.
"After the walk, we’ll gather on the beach for a complimentary drink and some social time."
Mr Kennedy says the Queenstown community is an active one, and it's "great" for Green Drinks to embrace that.
"This is going to be a fun and energetic opportunity to connect with a great group of people doing some great mahi for conservation - right where the work is being done."
The Green Drinks at Bob's Cove will happen on Thursday (February 22).
AJ Hacket is providing free transport on the night to and from The Station Building in Queenstown, and space is limited.
