Names of winter road trucks revealed
Queenstown Lakes District Council (QLDC) can now reveal the names of trucks you can expect to see maintaining roads in the district this winter.
After taking over 200 suggestions to name grit, plough, and CMA trucks, followed by seven days of voting* to determine the four most popular titles, we have our winners.
-
Gritty Gritty Bang Bang – 534 votes (grit/plough truck)
-
The Crowned Ranger – 270 votes (grit/plough truck)
-
The Big Leplowski – 179 votes (grit/plough truck)
-
Fast and Flurryous – 174 votes (CMA truck)
Work is now underway to create a design for each truck and their brand new names.
We’d like to thank everyone who made a suggestion (or several), and for all those who voted to see their favourite name emblazoned on one of our winter road maintenance trucks.
And remember, get a grip this winter and sign up for QLDC’s Winter Road Reports and Community Text Alerts if you haven’t already.
Our Winter Road Reports are a great opportunity to know what to expect on your morning commute or trip to the ski field, and our Community Text Alerts can alert you to a road closure you should know about, dangerous driving conditions, or other emergencies affecting your community.
Both services are free to register for.
