Blue Stories Project comes to Wānaka
An art exhibition that tells the inspiring stories of people who have found their way out of perinatal depression is coming to Wānaka.
Wānaka Library is set to host the Blue Stories Project exhibition in partnership with the Central Lakes Family Services.
This unique pop-art portrait collection was created by Nelson illustrator and designer Karolina Gorton.
Each portrait is accompanied by a story from an individual who faced mental health challenges as a new parent.
The intimate stories are shared with the aim of helping to educate communities and encourage the discussion of perinatal and postnatal depression.
The exhibition will kick off with an opening celebration, that will include speakers speakers Lisa Gear, from Central Lakes Family Services, Alex Weehuizen, from Precious Beginnings, and Mary Mansell, from Headlight.
The Art & Stories Exhibition runs from February 14 to March 18 at the Wānaka Library.
The opening celebration is being held on Saturday, February 18 at 10.30am.
There'll be morning tea as well as live music performed by the Wānaka Ukulele Group and opportunity to browse the exhibition.
A series of audio interviews that accompany the artworks is available online here.
