Rubbish truck rolls on Cromwell roundabout

by Kim Bowden - May 08, 2023

A clean-up operation is underway in Cromwell after a rubbish truck tipped on a new roundabout this morning, strewing some of its contents over the ground.

Police have confirmed they were called to the State Highway 8B-Barry Avenue roundabout just before 10.30am after a rubbish truck rolled.

Crews work to right a tipped rubbish truck on a roundabout in Cromwell, Monday, May 8, 2023.

A response team from St John also attended, and the driver of the truck received treatment at the scene for some "minor" injuries.

Rubbish has emptied from the truck onto the roadside.

By lunchtime, a mobile crane was in attendance, working to remove the truck from the road.

Police say the road is partially blocked to motorists and traffic management is in place.

The roundabout is one of two recently built on State Highway 8B in Cromwell.

Crux has approached council contractor AllWaste for comment.
