Rental Vehicle public forum confirmed

by Peter Newport - Jan 22, 2020

Following increasing community concern over rental vehicle driver behaviour, Crux has confirmed a public forum on the issue to be held at the Queenstown Memorial Centre on Friday, January 31st between 5.30 pm and 7.00 pm.

A petition calling on rental vehicle operators to be held accountable for their drivers has been signed by 4,000 people with hundreds of comments sharing the same concerns over dangerous and unsafe driving.

The forum will be moderated by Alexa Forbes and attended by Mayor Jim Boult, along with invited representatives from the rental vehicle industry and other agencies as well as local MP Hamish Walker.

Crux recognises that there is a lot of misinformation and emotion around this subject. The forum is designed for some straight talking, to seek practical solutions and to avoid targeting the ethnicity or nationality of any particular group of drivers. Written questions will be answered at the event and online after the event.

The venue is limited to 422 seats. Tickets are free but please register early - no assigned seating and ticket/registration is required for admission. Limit five tickets per booking.
