Homicide squad on case of former Cromwell man missing near Brisbane

Homicide detectives have joined the investigation into a missing Brisbane tradie, originally from Cromwell.

Brett Orme last contacted his family on Sunday, August 13, but has not been heard from since.

His abandoned Nissan Navara was found by police at a wetlands reserve north of Brisbane last Friday, August 19.

Police in Queensland are appealing for public assistance to help locate the 54 year old, who runs a shed building company.

They say his disappearance is "suspicious".

He was last seen leaving a Brisbane address on August 11.

His mobile phone was handed into police on August 16, after being found discarded near a walking track at Ironbank Gully in Samford Conservation Park, 20 kilometres away from where his ute was found three days later.

A selfie on the phone shows Mr Orme at Ironbank Gully two days after he was last seen.

Extensive air, river and land searches of the wetlands close to where the ute was found have failed to locate the missing man.

Searches of the tracks around Ironbank Gully have also failed to provide anything of interest.

Police are asking to speak with anyone who may have seen Mr Orme or his distinctive Nissan Navara, to fill in gaps in the timeline of his disappearance.
