Crown Range reopens after serious early-morning crash

The Crown Range Road has reopened following a crash this morning that left one person with critical injuries.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident, which took place near the Crown Range summit a little after 6.30am.
It is understood one person was initially trapped in a vehicle.
A spokesperson for Hato Hone St John says three ambulances and a helicopter attended the scene.
"One patient in a moderate condition was transported to Lakes District Hospital by ambulance and one patient in a critical condition was airlifted to Christchurch Hospital."
A police spokesperson says the Serious Crash Unit was advised of the incident.
The road, which links Wānaka and Queenstown, was initially closed after the crash.
The Queenstown Lakes District Council reported on social media the crash was between Eastburn Road and Cardrona Village.
