Armed police in dramatic Glenda Drive arrest

Police were called earlier today (November 14) to Glenda Drive, Frankton, after a report of an assault involving people known to each other.

There were no serious injuries.

Police told Crux that armed officers attended as a precaution as the alleged offender was reportedly in possession of a weapon.

A 41-year-old man was arrested and is due to appear in Queenstown District Court on Monday on charges of behaving threateningly, common assault, and possessing an offensive weapon.

A Crux reader, who has asked not to be named, shared this account of the police operation.

"It was really crazy.  All of a sudden four cop cars drove down Glenda drive, just outside Snap Rentals.

"One lady said some police cars were down the other side of the road as well. Then next minute four police were walking across the road near where we work, two with big guns and two with Tasers.

"One policeman told us to stay inside the office where myself and one other person were working. They didn't even say what was going on.

"They then went down back way behind us and then we saw them all outside the Winton office. They were all there for nearly 2 hours."
