Queenstown Art Society offering free life drawing classes
A lesson in one of the classical forms of drawing is on offer for free to creatives in Queenstown.
With the support of the Queenstown Lakes District Creative Communities scheme, the Queenstown Art Society is running a series of life drawing sessions, two of which will have no cost to attend.
The tutor will be Queenstown-based visual artist Kasia Hebda, and the sessions will be held at Te Atamira in Frankton.
The programme's organisers say it is a great opportunity for anyone who is creative and curious to give life drawing a go.
"Don’t think of it as serious and only for those that have prior training. It is a fun creative challenge in a large warm room complete with background music and is always rewarding for all levels of experience including none."
The sessions are in two groups of four with a two-week break between groups. The first group is on Sundays in the late afternoon; the second, Wednesdays in the early evening.
Some of the sessions will be untutored, allowing time for new skills to be quietly consolidated.
The programme follows on from a pilot in March, and a 'book and pay as you go' model is being continued.
"This means great flexibility – come to all or only a few classes depending on time and commitments right up until just before each class."
Find the dates and book online or in person at Te Atamira – www.teatamira.nz – Frankton, or through the QAS website – www.queenstownartsociety.co.nz.
Paid sessions remain at $25 + $3 booking fee, and all details are available upon booking, including the etiquette specific to attending life drawing classes which must be adhered to.
Bring only clean drawing materials, including sketchbook.
- Two free tutored sessions: Sunday, April 21, 4pm to 5.45pm and Wednesday, May 29, 6pm to 7.45pm
- The programme will run from April through to June
"QAS and Kasia Hebda look forward to welcoming all comers to this unique creative experience."
