Gibbston Valley Winery summer concert coincides with Waitangi
The dates have been set but who'll be playing at an iconic Queenstown summer concert is still under wraps.
The Gibbston Valley Winery Summer Concert will take place on Saturday, February 3, with the following Tuesday being Waitangi Day.
It is part of a three-show nationwide tour that will kick off in late January, finishing up in Queenstown.
First up, will be a show in Taupō, followed by a show in Hamilton, a first for the concert series.
Organiser Greenstone Entertainment has a long-standing arrangement with the Thames-Coromandel District Council to bring a show to Whitianga, but state highway repairs after Cyclone Gabrielle have put paid to those plans.
Greenstone Entertainment chief executive Amanda Calvert says, “We are in the final stages of securing another fantastic line up of artists for the concerts and can’t wait to share more details on these soon.”
The North Island shows will be returning to their traditional Auckland Anniversary weekend slot, with the Taupō Summer Concert taking place on Saturday, January 27, while the second gig of the tour will head to Claudelands Oval in Hamilton - an interim venue for next year only - on Sunday, January 28.
This year's sell-out Gibbston concert saw ZZ Top headline, with Stone Temple Pilots among the supporting acts.
