Last chance to visit Hāwea's Christmas wonderland
The Hāwea Community Centre has been transformed into a Christmas wonderland and visitors big and small have just this weekend left to experience the magic.
For their fifth consecutive year, head elves Barbara McKenzie and Elizabeth Horrell have created a festive display featuring both new and cherished treasures.
The theme, 'A Magical Tale', which sees favourite nursery rhymes and fairy tales reimagined with a Christmas twist.
There's Mother Hubbard's cupboard, Cinderella's ball, Jack's crown, the fate of Humpty Dumpty, and much more.
The elves have also collaborated with the Hawea Men’s Shed to create a remarkable wooden tiered Christmas tree.
Expect an ensemble of reindeer, elves, rabbits, mice, snowmen, trains, and new friends to converge at the Hawea Christmas Wonderland to bring to life the Magical Tale that Barbara and Elizabeth have tirelessly worked on over the past twelve months.
The organisers say the display encapsulates the true spirit of Christmas, inviting everyone to take part in the holiday festivities.
Santa Claus will also be making a special appearance, ready to chat with the kids and hear their Christmas wishes - he's only in town on weekends, though, as it's a busy time of year for him!
All proceeds from the event go to the Lake Hāwea Community Centre.
