Bike Glendhu Jump Jam kicks off this weekend

Nov 15, 2022

Bike Glendhu MTB in Glendhu Bay, Wānaka is excited to announce the pro jump line used for the Redbull video MIDPOINT, featuring mountain biking legend Brandon Semenuk, will be resurrected for a riders-only jump jam this weekend.

The jumps will re-open on Saturday, November 19 from 1pm to 5pm to registered riders who have the skills to take on these massive pro jump lines. With b.effect brewing company on-site to provide non-alcoholic beverages and tunes, DJ Matty J will bring the party back to Base 334 with a DJ set after the Jam finishes.

The Mid Point Jump Jam is the newest signature bike event to come out of Bike Glendhu and joins a line-up of other iconic events such as the Glenduro and the BGXC, as well as community-focused events like Women’s Ride Wednesdays presented by Mons Royale, Planting Days and Thirsty Thursdays.

“Events in the park and at Base 334 bring together both our mountain biking community and the wider outdoor community here at Bike Glendhu,” says Charles Cochrane, Bike Glendhu’s managing director. “The Jump Jam format is entirely rider-initiated, combining a relaxed vibe, rad scenery and great people. We want to continue to lean into our values as a business to innovate and launch new events that are purposeful, and that people want to be part of.”

Interested riders and volunteers can help get the jumps ready for the Jam by joining community Dig Days at the park, every day this week from 4pm to 6pm, led by Bike Glendhu’s operations and trail maintenance teams. While pass holders will be welcome to view the Jam on Saturday afternoon, unfortunately there will be no foot traffic allowed; all spectators must access the jump area via bikes through the park trails.

The MidPoint Jump Jam will be the first event of its kind at Bike Glendhu and is poised to welcome the best mountain bikers from the Queenstown Lakes region and beyond.
