Queenstown duck race benefits local air rescue trust
A downtown waterway in Queenstown was invaded by yellow ducks this weekend and organisers are thanking locals who helped make the quirky fundraising event a successful one.
Sunday of Labour Weekend saw the return of the colourful Queenstown Rotary Duck Race to the town's village green.
Organisers say 40 businesses sponsored a duck in the race event, alongside a further 53 individual supporters who also launched a duck to join in the fun.
"With your help we raised over $8,000 to go to Lakes District Air Rescue Trust. We hope to run another one next year."
So, who led the pack? The winners of the Corporate Duck Race were:
- Wynn Williams
- The File Mile Pharmacy
- Craigs Investment Partners
- Findex
Crux' own Crux the Duck placed a very respectable sixth.
Meanwhile, X Travel's hello competitor took out best dressed, followed by Raeward's in runner-up. Organisers say it was a very difficult decision to select the winner, with so many of the ducks worthy of the award.
